# Melete for researchers

Get from a folder of PDFs to a draft you can defend.

Melete builds literature matrices, checks proposals against funder rules, applies your codebook, and tracks reviewer comments, with every extracted claim linked to its page. The interpretation stays with you.

## What Melete takes off your plate

- Extracting methods and findings from a stack of papers.
- Checking a proposal against the funder’s requirements.
- A first pass of coding on qualitative data.
- Tracking reviewer comments through a major revision.
- Chasing co-authors for their sections before a deadline.

## Example workflows

- [Build a literature matrix from a folder of papers](https://melete.si/use-cases/literature-review-matrix/index.md): Method, sample, and findings for every paper, with a page number behind each entry.
- [Check a grant proposal against the funder’s rules](https://melete.si/use-cases/grant-proposal-requirements/index.md): Find the gaps against the call and plan the remaining work back from the deadline.
- [Code interview transcripts against your codebook](https://melete.si/use-cases/qualitative-codebook-coding/index.md): A first pass of coding with quotes, line references, and a log of every decision.
- [Organize a major revision and reviewer responses](https://melete.si/use-cases/reviewer-comment-tracker/index.md): Every reviewer comment in one table, sorted by effort, with responses drafted.

## What stays with you

- Every extracted claim carries a page or line reference so you can check it.
- Coding, interpretation, and conclusions stay with the researchers.
- Study data and drafts stay in your private scope or a project for the paper or grant.
- Submissions and messages to co-authors or funders wait for your approval.

## Tools

Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail, Zoom, Notion, PDFs. Connect the sources a task needs, and choose what Melete can access for each one.

## Questions

### Can I trust the extracted findings?

Treat them as a first pass. Every entry points to its page or line so you can verify it quickly, and when you correct Melete, later work uses the correction.

### What about sensitive research data?

Keep study data in a private scope or a project, connect only what the task needs, and follow your institution’s data-handling rules. Project data is not added to shared memory unless you choose to share it.

### Can my lab use it together?

Yes. Share a project with co-authors or your lab for a paper or grant. Each person’s private notes stay private.
